Why We Want to Look Behind The Veil
A veil is like a physical aura, it enhances the presence of a face, and at the same time removes it.
We don't want to get just presented with phenomena, objects, appearances, people: we want to discover them. And what is easily seen, readily available, has less value.
But those things that seems to be there and then move away from your grasp: they are spiking our fantasy. What can't be seen clearly we want to see up close, and what withdraws we want to hold.
It's the feeling of getting a glimpse at God's work.
PS: This veil, just like the silk dress, is the design of Sergio Duque, a Los Angeles couturier.
