In front of the Scenes - Preparing a Look
You've got to be lucky. Knock- knock: always carry a piece of wood with you so the Gods won't think you're getting boisterous.
We had strong sun in the weather forecast, strong and bright sun. But we got something better for this shoot, something rare in this are. We got a wonderful, soft overcast that gave the most wonderful colors and tender nuances and ideal contrast. And it lasted just enough to get the editorial/emotional eStore/eCommerce images done and with a strong (in this wonderfully soft and nuanced way) and consistent look.
Ideal for the Collection 2 by Mariam Anna Barska, a high fashion line with cutting edge design and patented fabric.
It was a bit cool, so I was careful to have model Sierra Brady from Photogenics protected from the wind by a windproof parka. Models are always cold, but you've got to at least keep them from actively shivering, or you might get a vibrating blur (just kidding).
Makeup artist Nicole Wittman is at work, and did a great job to respect and at the same time enhance the wonderful coloring and facial features of Sierra.
Later in the day the sun came out, which particularly benefitted the storyline in the editorial lookbook that I shot after the editorial eStore/eCommerce images. From mysterious fog to bright light with vast views at the Pacific Ocean and high contrast with vibrant California colors.
